Review this restaurant

The day boats and trawlers of Newlyn tie up just two miles west of here. So you'd rightly expect our menu to have plenty of fish and seafood. It does.

But we don't underestimate the quality of Cornish beef and poultry, game from local estates and cheeses from some of Briain's best dairies.

We have built the reputation of all of our kitchens on the maxim that the best things in life are kept simple. And it's truer than anywhere her in Mousehole.

This is a traditional Brasserie menu that takes good ingredients and gives them a very simple but classic treatment. A menu that changes a little through the seasons.

At scrubbed pine or oak tables on the Upper Deck and in the bar, some perfect for groups of 10 or more. Nearly all with views to St. Clement's Isle.

Or on the Sun Deck at sofas with just a pane of glass between you and the palm tree lined gardens.

Or, best of all and more frequently than you might think, eat on the terrace (below) looking down at the sun-dappled sea.

Large Groups
We don't mind not having a Private Room at The Coastguard. This is a democratic place and one of its beauties is the sense of continuity throughout the downstairs rooms.

But we do have lots of larger tables for families, bigger families and groups. Please email us if you have a large party that you'd like to bring.

Further Details

The salty air of the Cornish seaside lends itself well to a good night's sleep, whatever Mousehole's seagulls might have to say.
So, over time, we will be sourcing only the best beds. Our aim: to be bombarded with requests for details of where we find them. Such has been the case in Wales and at The Gurnard's.

All of our bedrooms have views of the sea, many with nothing between it and us save our garden and a few rocks. While some enjoy a mere glimpse, some have an astonishing panorama from a top floor balcony.

From many, the hypotic St. Clement's Isle sits in the foreground, resolutely distracting one's gaze from The Lizard, St. Michael's Mount and fishing boats heading off to the ocean.

Each room has White Company toiletries, proper coffee and Cornish tea, soft linen and books with which to curl up on your bed or to stretch back with on your balcony. Roberts radios are on their way.
