History.
It's widely thought that The Halfway House originated in the 16th century.
Situated on the main Helston to Falmouth road it was most probably a request stop for mail and passenger stage coaches. At that time there were stables with a farrier or blacksmith in attendance.
The stables were demolished in the 20th century to make way for the enlarged car park.
The building has altered over the years but still retains a cosy and friendly atmosphere. Arthur Caddick wrote in his 1956 travel guide, "One Hundred Doors", that The Halfway House is "...an agreeable halt."
